The “Habits (in Time) of Crisis. Conceptual Tools for Dealing with Disruptive Events” (HiToC) PRIN 2022 project aims to develop a model for understanding the dynamics of habit transformation in times of crisis. Through a pluralistic and trans-disciplinary approach, at the crossroads between history of philosophy, history of science, philosophy of mind, anthropological knowledge, aesthetics, philosophy of language and sociolinguistics, HiToC intends to investigate the dynamics underlying the formation, interruption and preservation of habits, in order to identify the conceptual and practical-diagnostic tools useful for dealing with future critical situations. There are two main problematic junctions: the question of the reversibility of automatic and involuntary habit processes in crisis situations and the phenomena of inertial resistance that habits manifest in both the individual and social dimensions, responsible for dysfunctional forms of existence.
